It’s no secret that Ken Feinberg, administrator of the gulf oil spill fund, has discouraged claimants from using legal representation. In his opinion folks could do just fine on their own. But in a recent speech in Orlando, Florida it seems that the fund czar has done a 360—and it’s about time! “I am increasingly of the view as I go forward with this program that the lawyers around this country can play a very valuable role,” he said, in helping people package their claims. It seems logical, after all, the IRS also says you can do your own taxes, but most people feel better knowing a professional is on their case.
It’s comforting to see that Mr. Feinberg has finally seen the light. Maybe now claimants can also begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
